I got my first taste of unpleasant experience with a Client in my Agency.
Let's just keep mum about who this client is. Baka ma-deado ako.
Anyway, I presented two (2) radio ads to Client. Client didn't like the first script. Fine then. Just give me your inputs and then we'll revise accordingly diba. Ganon lang sana. But he kept blabbing about how my Creatives could've thought of such. And that he's paying a lot of manhours for this creative output. Sarcastic remarks and "nakakapikon" na laughters from him and his subordinates. I proceeded to present the second radio ad. Again, sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm. The script has basically hi-faluting words for humor's sake. And they dunt get it. They feel that the market would not understand it. But that's the whole point of it. That's the whole comedy of the material. But they dunt get it. Fuckers. And, actually, its entirely their fault for me. This is the fifth round of revisions already. Whenever I ask for specific directions so that Creatives can really develop materials that are on-strat, they couldn't. All they could give is just to make the material lively and should rise above the clutter. Very general. Very broad. Very usual. Of course, everyone wants their material to stand out diba. God! What kind of a... Even the other brand manager felt embarassed and apologized to us for the poor showing of their boss - who's a foreigner. (Get out of our country, man!)
For me, if you have comments or even violent reactions, as educated people, do it in a decent and civilized way. I had meeting with another Client in the morning. All Print ad studies were not approved. Client explained their reasons. And on our parat, we explained where we're coming from. They understood. So, we compromised and we will get back to them with revisions, putting at the back of our minds their inputs and knowing that they also understood our reasons for the creative materials we developed. That's decent. That's professional.
As soon as I get back to the office, I went straight to our President and made sumbong. Told her about everything. She will meet with Client on Monday and will demand an explanation. I love our President.
Actually, I'm not supposed to get really affected by this. The creatives should. The writer, actually. But I know how hard the guy worked - has written about over ten radio scripts already. (Client, by the way, asked who my Creative was. I had no choice but to name him. I'm really sorry.) He does not deserve those harsh words from Client.
God bless them. God really really bless them (actually, okay na rin na sana malugi sila.) I say, go Beam, Happy and Close-up!
