My first meeting with Client (Caltex) today.
And its the looooonnnngggeeeeessssst......
From 8:30 am to 630 pm. Kaya nyo?
My Geds.
Although I didn't do much talking, listening to the discussion was so tiring. I think I was left with just two brains cells in me after this very long meeting. Buti na lang our meeting was held in one of those function rooms at Mandarin hotel. So class sya. And class our food. Sarap.
Everyone from the agency was there - from our president to accounts team to creatives. The marketing team of Caltex was there. So, i'm kinda quiet at first, shy. I was seated beside my boss. She kept telling me to ask questions, even if I don't have any because the discussion was quite simple to comprehend. So, I forced myself to squeeze in some questions. Apparently, my boss said Client would prefer it that I ask questions to show that I'm really interested in the topics and to show my being participative. But sometimes, I would just butt in and say.. "Yeah" or "I agree" or "A fine example is blah.. blah... blah..."
Hay.. Pressures of work nga naman o.
Our President rocks! She's small, petite, pretty and boy, what a force to be reckoned with. She says what she feels - outright - in front of clients - even if its about not-so-nice-things of client's work. Iba. I love her for that.
I'm so tired I think I'm gonna have to sleep na...
By the way, we have the another meeting tom morning with the same client, same people.
God.

Naku I don't know if this will apply to you, pero one easy trick I learned to help me speak up in front of client is to put a disclaimer before my every statement.
Kunwari, if the client says something, um, not smart about the strategy or the creative work, then I would usually say "Personally, I think that doing that would...Blah blah blah. But that's just me." Then you give them a megawatt smile to diffuse whatever criticism you have. And it's okay to ask questions and look confused once in a while kasi at your position, you're forgiven naman pretty easily. Lagot ka kung account director ka na at confused ka pa rin.
Good luck on day two!
