Spontaneity

Last Saturday, I did something spontaneous.

I met up with high school buddies, Jose and Ascon - perhaps to have some afternoon coffee or malling. Just to be able to do something on a Saturday afternoon.

But lo and behold, moments after we all converged, we were suddenly cruising along EDSA, on our way to Baguio! Baguio man! Matatanggap ko pa kung sa Tagaytay. But Baguio?

No planning was done, hence, we didn't have extra clothes with us. No pre-booking in hotels or cheap inns. It was a "bahala na when we get there" kind of trip.

And it was really fun. My only thoughts were to buy lots in ukay.

We passed by Shell Select in North Expressway (which has the most expensive toll fees). By this time, I was already feeling that we're onto some real long trip here. We bought chips, chocolates and drinks for sustenance during the 7-hour drive.

We stopped by Max's in Pangasinan to have dinner. I think that was about 7pm. It was the most cricket-infested place on earth. Millions were flying around as we ran, with our bodies bent trying to avoid them, towards Max's entrance. God! After dinner, we were back again on the road.

Not much hassles, actually. No traffic, no heavy rains, no Ghosts (as those were my my thoughts as I look outside the dark fields).

We arrived at Baguio at around ten pm. Our plan was to sleep in the car so that we can go ukay first thing next morning. We went first to a bar. We each had just one beer and left shortly because I found the band singing, lousy and too mainstream (feeling). We had no other places to go. So we decided to look for a cheap hotel - Starwood. It was P1,000 for that one night. Ascon volunteered to initially shoulder the cost using her credit card and that we'll pay her na lang next month. I told them expensive pa rin, because I want my money to be spent only for Ukay shopping. Since Jose wants to have a comfortable sleep, he volunteered to pay half of hotel fee. Means, I only have to pay 250 next month to Ascon.

Before sleeping, we played a board game first (scattegories) which is so fun. Chums may want to invest in this game. We then, went to sleep at 1 am.

Believe it or not, we were up and about at 7 am. Took a bath and dressed up, using yesterday's outfits (by the way, I wore a pekpek shorts of Ascon when I slept. I forced myself to look for any other clothings ascon's car was keeping. Luckily, i found one in the trunk - that pekpek shorts).

We were dead serious in Ukay shopping. We had our breakfast at "Cafe by the Ruins." Very sarap.

We then went on our separate ways. Kanya-kanyang shopping to.

Shopping. Shopping. Shopping. Shopping. Shopping.

We met up again to have lunch at Don Henrico's. Walking along Session Road, I glanced upon a familiar food store which caused me so much turmoil - Gobi. Of course, chums know about it. But anyway, right after we had lunch, we went first to Camp John Hay - our last stop before heading home. We had our last chit chat by the cool weather there, sipping hot chocolate from wooden mugs.

We then drove home. Good thing Ascon has an iPod - we sang for most part of the trip.

It was really fun.

I just couldn't wait to change my briefs.
