Good Deeders

Doing a good deed, collectively "as a barkada" is something new to us.

But its about time. Chums can really give more.

Today, we went to check out the different housing projects (and those for development) of Gawad Kalinga. We went first to Taguig because its where the "model" village/barrangay is. The place is so clean, the air fresh and most of all, the people are very nice. Where can you find such a place where all kids (as in ALL ha) make mano to you. Yes, it feels matanda but you can see how good-natured these kids and adults are. I think what GK did to this place was more than just providing roofs over their heads. GK provide them with a new life and renewed sense of hope to having a better life.

We then went to Tatalon, QC. This was a huge site and not as nice yet as the one in Taguig, being the model site. It was such a maze of small houses. There's a lot of things still to be done here. But nevertheless, again, the people were nice and hospitable. They even prepared lunch for us! (And of course, Maite ate lots.)

GK, as it seems, does not provide housing projects only. They have programs to make everyone involved and make everyone self-sustained so that they themselves can help build their own communities.

I am really excited for this. Not only to help others, but also to help ourselves feel a little better. And this will really feel good, I know it.
