Nangyayari pala talaga yon

Two nights ago, I went to meet up with a high school friend whom I haven't seen in years. So, we had very long chats on each other's lives.

She's just here in Manila for a vacation but she's really based in the States. I knew for a fact that she has a family already, seeing her kid at her friendster site. So, I asked where her husband was.. That's when the conversation began to be really interesting...

Yes, she has a husband back in the States, whom she doesn't love romantically and... actually, 3 years lang naman sila magsasama. Ito ang tinatawag nating "fixed marriage."

She entered into this to assure her and her daugther a good life in America. Ang kicker, the father of her child, whom she really really loves, is in Manila. She would describe her relationship with her child's father as a "forbidden love" because her parents do not approve of him. So, she went to the States and for some twists of faith, she landed in this situation. She had to pay her "husband" now $10,000 for this arrangement. They have to act that they're really in love, or else, their marriage will be nullified. Now, once she finishes the 3 "fixed" years, she will be free to leave her husband. She will then be a green cardholder and can now petition her real love to follow her in America.

Eto. Ayaw ma-inlove nung present "husband" sa kanya ah. But, she's really firm with him. That he cannot expect anything from her. As in, they don't have sex.

These things pala really happen. How telenovela!
