A title now commonly attached to Carlo Celdran.
Yesterday, as part of our office's Lawak-utak program, we took one of Carlo's walking tours - "Cultural Center with Imelda." We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was incredibly hillarious.
For the CCP tour, Carlo took us inside the CCP, every corner, every room, all the way to the Coconut Palace. Carlo is such a character, very high-spirited and vibrant, full of stories and trivias to tell, particularly ones during the Golden Imeldific years.
The best part is that he plays the part. Dressed in 70's clothes, he brought with him a handy stereo where he plays 70s Pinoy music such as "Rock baby Rock." And as in any program starters, he brought out from his messenger bag a small Philippine flag so we can sing first the national anthem. So, he led in the singing, waving his tiny little flag, in very modulated loud voice.
He has several interesting tours that are a must for anyone who wants to see downtown Manila with a set of new eyes and an incredible sense of humour.
Old Manila Walks is one tour I would definitely take in the future- to be able to see the old party life of Escolta, Binondo and Chinatown. I'm guessing it will be doubly fun.
