is this year's thrust for the Ad Congress. Notice, I capitalize Y and R? Yep, hee, that's our Agency and we did so well.
I'm still not over with the euphoria that we all felt, especially during the Araw Awards. Until now here in the office, we couldn't stop but talk and reminisce on that day.
Its nice to see former office mates, previous bosses and college classmates, even from high school. This is bound to happen to everyone because, really, advertising is such a small industry. It really is a reunion venue for different circles of friends in your life. I even saw Marge, one of my friend's partners in ArkeoMedia.
Araw Awards is the culmination of the Ad Congress and everyone prepared for it. Not only the ad awards were at stake, but also the much awaited parade, where Agencies will compete for best costume. In previous congresses, Agencies really "careered" their costumes. And this is no different. This year's theme for the parade is showcasing cities around the world known for its advertising. Of course, we couldn't just dress up costumes of those cities. We will have to tie it with advertising.
We got Mumbai. The concept we used was Kama Sutra. To tie it with advertising, we used "Positioning Statement." For example, "banging heads together" can be both advertising and a Kama Sutra position. Or "Going the extra inch." Stuff like that. In each of the position, we have a picture/painting of an Indian perverted sexual position. We cut a hole in the heads of the characters of the painting and put ours, face-painted with either blue or red. As final clincher, our president joined the parade, riding a motorcycle, as if implying the "5-6" utang culture attached to Indians in this country. Pang-fun na lang ito.

When our Agency was called, pure joy - jumpings and all. We were then asked to go to the center stage for photo op. We needed this so much because "pinaghirapan" talaga at pinag-isipan ng husto.
The actual awarding of ads then quickly followed. We had a number of awards, much more than others. We're one of the top awardees actually.
It was really a good night for Y&R and everybody hopes that this is gonna put the Agency back in the limelight.
Inuman na!

Yep, this is me.
